Compare the full cost
Rent is only one part of the budget. Before applying, ask about deposits, application fees, utilities, pet charges and any other recurring costs. Confirm the landlord’s application requirements and review the information requested before paying a fee.
Understand the details before moving in
Take time to review the lease terms, move-in date, maintenance contacts and any property rules. Ask which appliances are included and who handles utilities and yard care. Document the property’s condition at move-in and keep copies of your lease and related paperwork.
